A magical 13-day adventure that will give you a chance to experience the spectacular sights, sounds, and tastes of Vietnam! From the historic capital of Hanoi, you'll board a remarkable overnight cruise around Halong Bay before continuing to the picturesque city of Hue- the Imperial City with a citadel surrounded by thick stone walls and a moat. Make your way to Hoi An, where you have ample free time to explore! Your tour will finish up in the country's financial hub of Ho Chi Minh City giving you a chance to explore the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels and learn more about the history and traditions of Vietnam.

Day 1

Australia Vietnam

Departure from Sydney/ Melbourne, upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to the hotel for check in.

Day 2

Halong Bay

You will be picked-up from the hotel in the morning and start the scenic 3.5 hour drive to Halong Bay.  Embark on Oriental Sails cruise boat followed by a short cruise briefing. Savour a delectable lunch as the boat cruises further along the limestone islands of Bai Tu Long Bay, heading to Vung Vieng fishing village – one of the largest fishing villages in Halong Bay to see the life of local fishermen. You have the option to take a bamboo rowing boat trip around Vung Vieng Fishing Village or take a kayak and go kayaking by yourself with the help and instruction of a tour guide. After this, return to Oriental Sails and relax as the sun starts to set. Enjoy the Happy Hour at the bar and on the sun deck while cooking demonstration are organised. You can socialize with other guests over dinner, go night squid fishing or just laze around.

Day 3

Hanoi

Start your day bright and early with a session of Tai Chi on the sundeck. Catch morning view of seascapes with a cup of tea or coffee and have breakfast while cruising toward Thien Canh Son Cave, one of the less visited caves in Bai Tu Long Bay. As you head back to the harbor, grab an early lunch onboard and then disembark Oriental Sails around noon! You will then transfer back to your hotel in Hanoi. The rest of the evening is free for you to roam at your own leisure.

Hanoi Evening Street Food Tour - This tour into the Old Quarter will begin from your hotel in the early evening. Your English-speaking local guide will give you an insight into the intricacies and traditions of Vietnamese food culture. Walk through the maze of bustling streets that is Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and tempt your tastebuds with the famed Hanoi dish BanhCuon at a local eatery. Watch as the skilled chefs demonstrate to you how this tasty dish is put together. Continuing onwards, wander past street stalls and quiet residential lanes where you can discover how the local’s live in the old quarter. Afterwards you will stop at the barbeque stalls. Settle down with the locals and sample various meat, vegetable and bread specialties grilled over hot coals for extra flavour. The search for dessert will bring you down to a small alley, here you will find fruit served in a cup and smothered with crushed iced and condensed milk – this speciality is one not to be missed! Your local guide will then take you to one of Hanoi’s best kept secrets, a hidden street food restaurant to taste top ten street foods in Hanoi include Banh My Hanoi, Vietnamese Rice Wine and famous Egg Coffee along with many other specialties. Follow these delicious meals with an ice-cold local beer. Your trip ends in the middle of the old quarter and you will continue onwards to discover Hanoi by night at your own leisure, or the tour guide can arrange a taxi for you to go back to your hotel (taxi not included). Inclusions: English speaking tour guide, all food and drink as mentioned above.

Day 4

Hanoi Hue

After breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to the airport for your flight to Hue. On arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel, after which you are free to explore this picturesque city that was the Imperial Capital, with a citadel surrounded by thick stone walls and a moat.

Day 5

Hue

Today you are free for your own exploration of Hue.

Full day tour of Hue - in the morning visit Dong Ba Market to discover the daily life of locals, and then take a boat trip to Thien Mu pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Hue City. Head to Imperial Citadel of Royal Dynasty of Nguyen Family (1802 - 1945) & Royal Antiques Museum, a collection of ornaments from the Nguyen dynasty. Lunch at a local restaurant (Hue specialities, Western and Asian food) and then continue to visit Incense Village and Khai Dinh King’s Tomb – a blend of Western and Eastern architecture. After this, explore the Minh Mang King’s Tomb and prepare to be impressed by the majesticity and symmetry of the architectural constructions. On the way back to your hotel, we drop in at the handicraft village in Hue city – Conical Hat village. You will arrive back at your hotel at around 4-5pm.

Day 6

Hue Hoi An

Upon leaving Hue you drive south to Hoian, which was originally a Cham seaport but has been been influenced down the centuries by traders from various cultures. The scenic road hugs the coastline before crossing over the winding Hai Van pass. A view from the top of the pass is one of Vietnam’s most impressive panoramic scenes of Lang Co Beach. Once you arrive in Hoi An and check-in to the hotel,  you are free to explore the city at your own leisure!

Hoi An

My Son - Depart early this morning and travel to My Son (approx. 1 hour), a UNESCO World Heritage site located 40km southwest of Hoi An. My Son was once the capital and religious centre of the Cham people, and is believed to be the longest inhabited archaeological site in Indochina. The ruins of My Son were built between the 7th to 13th century BC and are located in a valley surrounded by mountains, the sides of which are covered in thick jungle. Hon Quap (Cat's Tooth Mountain) overlooks the site, its crooked peak mimicked by the architecture of some temples' roofs. These mountains are the source of the Thu Bon River, a holy river which flows through the site. Lunch will be included at a local restaurant and after the day’s tour, be transferred back to the hotel in Hoi An. Inclusions: Transfers to and from your hotel to My Son Holy Land, English speaking tour guide.

Day 8

Hoi An

Today you are free for your own exploration in Hoi An.

Day 9

Hoi An   Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast you will be transferred to nearby Da Nang Airport for the flight to Ho Chi Minh City - a bustling metropolis located in the south of the country. Upon arrival you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel accommodation. The rest of the day is at leisure to discover Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 10

Cu Chi Tunnels Day Trip

After breakfast at the hotel, you will make your way towards the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, with a pit-stop at a lacquer art factory for the disabled on the way. Once you arrive at the Cu Chi Tunnels (Ben Dinh), you will watch a wartime propaganda film showing how local guerilla fighters were "American Killing Heroes" (a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed). You can then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels in Cu Chi. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank, as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. You can also try gun shooting at an added cost. After this, make your way back to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Chi Minh City

Today you are free for your own exploration in Ho Chi Minh.

Mekong Delta day tour - This morning after breakfast be picked up from the hotel and travel to the city of My Tho (approx. 1.5 hours) on the banks of the Mekong. Upon arrival board a motor boat and cruise along the Mekong River. The boat will take you to Xep Canal, a lovely place where you can escape the traffic of the main river. Here you will cruise under coconut trees before arriving at a small islet. Disembark and walk around a small local village. Stop at a local family's home to enjoy tropical fruit, honey tea and wine and listen to traditional Vietnamese music performed by the villagers. Afterwards continue onwards to another islet where a traditional Vietnamese lunch will be prepared by a local family (included). In the afternoon return to Ho Chi Minh City and your hotel accommodation. Inclusions: Transfers to and from your hotel, English speaking tour guide, Mekong River boat trip, lunch, honey tea and honey wine, seasonal fruits, traditional music performance.

Day 12

Ho Chi Minh City Australia
