From the historic capital of Hanoi, you'll board a remarkable overnight cruise around Halong Bay before continuing to the natural wonders of Hoi An.

Your tour will finish up in the country's financial hub of Ho Chi Minh City giving you a chance to explore the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels and learn more about the history and traditions of Vietnam.

Day 1

Hanoi

Upon arrival in Noi Bai International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and be transferred to hotel for check in. Spend the rest of the day free at leisure.

Optional Activity - Hanoi Evening Street Food Tour

This tour into the Old Quarter will begin from your hotel in the early evening. Your English-speaking local guide will give you an insight into the intricacies and traditions of Vietnamese food culture, including details on ingredients and historical backgrounds of popular northern dishes. Walk through the maze of bustling streets that is Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and tempt your tastebuds with the famed Hanoi dish BanhCuon at a local eatery. Watch as the skilled chefs demonstrate to you how this tasty dish is put together. Continuing onwards, wander past street stalls and quiet residential lanes where you can discover how the locals live in the old quarter. Afterwards you will stop at the barbeque stalls. Settle down with the locals and sample various meat, vegetable and bread specialties grilled over hot coals for extra flavour. The search for dessert will bring you down to a small alley, here you will find fruit served in a cup and smothered with crushed iced and condensed milk – this speciality is one not to be missed! Your local guide will then take you to one of Hanoi’s best kept secrets, a hidden street food restaurant to taste top ten street foods in Hanoi include Banh My Hanoi, Vietnamese Rice Wine and famous Egg Coffee along with many other specialties. Follow these delicious meals with an ice cold local beer. Your trip ends in the middle of the old quarter and you will continue onwards to discover Hanoi by night at your own leisure, or the tour guide can arrange a taxi for you to go back to your hotel (taxi not included).

Day 3

Halong Bay

You will be picked up from the hotel and start your drive towards Hong Gai Tourist Wharf before checking in to the Oriental Sails JSC's private waiting hall - The OS Lounge. Embark on Oriental Sails by transfer boat. Savour a delectable lunch as the cruise fruthers along the limestone islands of Bai Tu Long Bay, heading to Vung Vieng fishing village - one of the largest fishing villages in Halong Bay - to see the life of local fisherman.

You have the option of taking a bamboo rowing boat trip around Vung Vieng FIshing VIllage, or kayaking on your own or with a tour guide around the Fishing Village. 

Return to your cruise and sit back and relax to enjoy the sunset. Enjoy Happy Hour at the bar and laze on the sun deck while the cooking demonstration begins. Enjoy dinner and spend the evening at your leisure.

Day 4

Bu Tu Long Hanoi

Catch the morning view of the seacapes with a cup of tea or coffee and have breakfast while cruising toward Thien Canh Son Cave. Visit Thien Canh Son Cave, the medium size and more untouched cave in Bai Tu Long Bay.

Have an early lunch onboard. Wave goodbye to your cruise and and transfer back to your hotel in Hanoi. Evening at leisure.

Day 5

Hanoi Danang Hoi An

After breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to the airport for your flight to Danang. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel in Hoian. Stop en route to visit the Marble Mountain and Stone village. The rest of the afternoon is yours at leisure to explore the UNESCO World Heritage listed town of Hoian.

Day 6

Hoi An

In the morning, you will be collected from your hotel to explore the Village on bike for about an hour and then taken to the docks on the Co Co River where your day’s adventure will start. At the dock you will board a boat taking you onto the river and downstream towards your first fishing destination. The tour helps you understand more about the life of a local and you might even have the opportunity to meet and chat with fishermen about their works. Learn how to lift the big fishing net out of the water and how to spread the unique fishing net named “RO” into a professional circle to catch fish and others daily activities of the local fisherman.

Arrive at The Coconut Palm area and meet a local fishing family who will bring some traditional basket boats for you to board. You will be getting on a very unique round boat (Basket Boat) or Thung Chai in Vietnamese. You will learn the technique of how to drive the round boat and have fun catching special Purple Crabs.

A family home constructed from bamboo and coconut water is your tea stop for you to taste what life is like for traditional fisher-folk. Relax in the Coconut Houses and enjoy lunch. Then you have your time to walk around village to explore. The trip ends at around 2:00pm. Then you are free to enjoy the rest of the day.

Optional Activity - Ba Na Hill

Explore Ba Na Hill, located at 1,480m above sea level. Its temperate climate, biodiversity of lowland evergreen forest, and spectacular views over the South China Sea & the Lao mountain range makes Ba Na a popular retreat place.
On arrival, a 20-minute cable-cart-ride brings you past the vast forest tree line and offers spectacular views of the lush jungle and Fairy waterfall along the way. Time to experience the pristine ecological system of Ba Na. Enjoy the fresh mountain air, visit Linh Ung Pagoda with its 27m height Buddha Statue. Alternatively, you can conquer the Peak of Chua Mountain and have a spectacular view of Da Nang, the ocean, and also visit some interesting sites like Golden Bridge with God’s hand, the Rainbow Waterfall, Suspension Bridge, Golden Valley and the ruined Opera House. Lunch at local restaurant at Ba Na Hill.

Day 8

Hoi An

Today you are free for your own exploration in Hoian.

Optional Activity - My Son

Depart early this morning and travel to My Son (approx. 1 hour), a UNESCO World Heritage site located 40km southwest of Hoi An.

My Son was once the capital and religious centre of the Cham people, and is believed to be the longest inhabited archaeological site in Indochina. The ruins of My Son were built between the 7th to 13th century BC and are located in a valley surrounded by mountains, the sides of which are covered in thick jungle. Hon Quap (Cat's Tooth Mountain) overlooks the site, its crooked peak mimicked by the architecture of some temples' roofs. These mountains are the source of the Thu Bon River, a holy river which flows through the site. Lunch will be included at a local restaurant and after the day’s tour, be transferred back to the hotel in Hoi An.

Day 9

Hoi An Danang Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast you will be transferred to nearby Da Nang Airport for the flight to Ho Chi Minh City - a bustling metropolis located in the south of the country. Upon arrival you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel accommodation. The rest of the day is at leisure to discover Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 10

Ho Chi Minh Cu Chi Tunnel [Ho Chi Minh]

After breakfast at hotel, you will visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels. There is a stop at a lacquer art factory for the disabled on the way.

Arrive at the Cu Chi Tunnels (Ben Dinh). You will watch a wartime
propaganda film showing how local guerilla fighters were "American Killing Heroes" (a short
introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed). You'll then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels in Cu Chi. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers. If you are interested, you can try real gun shooting (at own expense). Arrive back in Ho Chi Minh City and finish Cu Chi Tunnels Half Day Tour.

Ho Chi Minh City

Today you can spend the day at your leisure in Ho Chi Minh City.

Optional activity - Mekong Delta Day tour

This morning after breakfast you'll be picked up from the hotel and travel to the city of My Tho (approx. 1.5 hours) on the banks of the Mekong.

Upon arrival board a motor boat and cruise along the Mekong River. The boat will take you to Xep Canal, a lovely place where you can escape the traffic of the main river. Here you will cruise under coconut trees before arriving at a small islet. Disembark and walk around a small local village. Stop at a local family's home to enjoy tropical fruit, honey tea and wine and listen to traditional Vietnamese music performed by the villagers. Afterwards continue onwards to another islet where a traditional Vietnamese lunch will be prepared by a local family (included). In the afternoon return to Ho Chi Minh City and your hotel accommodation.

Ho Chi Minh City

Today you are free for your own exploration in Ho Chi Minh.

Australia
