Day 1

Australia  Buenos Aires

Fly from Australia to Buenos Aires, Arrive in the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires. Its beauty is apparent with its elegant architecture, wide tree-shaded boulevards, striking monuments and sprawling parks. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to get acquainted with the “Paris of South America” and its distinct European flavor. As you will have your night at leisure feel free to treat yourself to an Argentinean beef dinner at one of the city's many superb steak restaurants

If only one word could be used to describe this vibrant and richly cosmopolitan city, it would be "mosaic." Stroll along these broad thoroughfares, like the Plaza de Mayo, where famed first lady Evita Perón led fervent crowds to petition for her husband’s release from prison, or visit Pirámide de Mayo, the oldest of the city’s many national monuments.

Antarctica Cruise (Ushuaia)

Arrive into port at approximately 9am and depart at about 9pm. No city on the planet has a more southerly latitude. As a result, the sun shines for 18 hours during each summer day, providing ample opportunity to view the mix of glaciers, forests and sea, all framed by Mount Martial to the west and Mounts Olivia and Cinco Hermanos to the east.

Antarctica Cruise (Cape Horn)

Arrive into port at approximately 6am and depart at about 8am. Tierra del Fuego, Land of Fire, is the most isolated place in the Americas, and Cape Horn is its southernmost point. These craggy cliffs and windswept shores are stark, rugged beauty personified, creating a dramatic setting for the collision between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Day 8

Antarctica Cruise (Schollart Channel, Paradise Bay and Gerlache Strait)

Arrive into Chollart Channel at approximately 11am and depart at about 1pm, then arrive into Paradise Bay at about 2pm and depart at approximately 4pm. Next, arrive into Gerlache Strait at approximately 5pm and depart at about 7pm.

Antarctica Cruise (Elephant Island)

Arrive into port at approximately 2pm and depart at about 6pm. This uninhabited island is just off the coast of Antarctica and a well-placed area for nature lovers.

Arrive into port at approximately 8am and depart at about 5pm. Commune with the roughly 2,000 intrepid souls who call this remote former whaling outpost home. As you hike through the rocky, windswept landscape you may observe a few of the island’s flightless residents—including Magellan penguins burrowing underground, and rockhoppers carefully observing you from outcroppings.

Antarctica Cruise (Puerto Madryn)

Arrive into port at approximately 7am and depart at about 4.30pm. This deep water port was founded in 1865 by Welsh immigrants. Extending out into the Atlantic from Puerto Madryn is the Península Valdés, a wildlife sanctuary where vast numbers of sea elephants, whales and penguins far outnumber the few human visitors who make it out this far.

Arrive into port at approximately 9am and depart at about 5pm. Montevideo is a thoroughly modern city with a rich artistic tradition, the reach of the rural estancias is all around you. If ever there were a time you were inclined to indulge, delicious steaks are the specialty of the house in virtually every restaurant.

Buenos Aires  Iguazu Falls

The Antarctica Cruise arrives back in Buenos Aires this morning at around 5am. Transfer to the airport on a flight to Iguazu Falls. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel and enjoy a typical Argentine dinner.  If you would like to take an optional tour of Iguazu Falls on arrival, please let your travel consultant know. One of the planet’s most awe-inspiring sights, the Iguazú Falls are simply astounding. A visit is a jaw-dropping, visceral experience, and the power and noise of the cascades – a chain of hundreds of waterfalls nearly 3km in extension – live forever in the memory. An added benefit is the setting: the falls lie split between Brazil and Argentina in a large expanse of national park, much of it rainforest teeming with unique flora and fauna.

Day 17

Iguazu Falls (Argentinian side)

Your adventure continues this morning at Iguazu Falls. A rail car takes you to the top of the Falls on the Upper Circuit, and you will walk to the Lower Circuit where the power of nature surrounds you. Continue along the catwalks to Devil's Gorge - stand in amazement as you gaze at spectacular "Devil's Throat" the most magnificent of all of the cataracts. View, photograph and feel the spray of the thundering waters, one of nature's most impressive achievements and a unique experience for your senses. Spend the rest of the day exploring the natural treasures of Iguazú National Park, designated a World Heritage Site for its rare and endangered flora and fauna.

Iguazu Falls  Buenos Aires

This afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. Arrive in the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires. Its beauty is apparent with its elegant architecture, wide tree-shaded boulevards, striking monuments and sprawling parks. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to get acquainted with the “Paris of South America” and its distinct European flavor. As you will have your night at leisure feel free to treat yourself to an Argentinian beef dinner at one of the city's many superb steak restaurants

Day 19

Buenos Aires City Tour

Discover the city's highlights this morning on a tour that includes the Plaza de Mayo, Metropolitan Cathedral and Casa Rosada (Government Palace); see the balcony where Eva and Juan Peron made their speeches. Then, to the colorful La Boca neighborhood, a working class barrio, and the old quarters of San Telmo and Caminito, a mix of colonial style homes, narrow lanes, artists' lofts and very trendy cafes. Drive to the Recoleta Cemetery, final resting place of many of the wealthiest and most important Argentine historical figures. The grounds here cover more than four city blocks, filled with tombs adorned by works of local and international sculptors, and more than 6400 mausoleums including the tomb of Eva "Evita" Peron, always heaped with flowers and letters from adoring fans. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring some of Buenos Aires neighborhoods and fabulous collection of shops before this afternoon's tango lessons with professional Argentine Tango Dancers. Tonight is at leisure, or, participate in the optional Argentinean Dinner and Tango Show.

Buenos Aires Dinner & Tango Show (PM) - Tonight enjoy an excellent dinner and tango show in downtown Buenos Aires. This has become a favorite of local residents as well as visitors and is the ideal setting for a delicious dinner and an alluring tango show. The Tango displays complete cultural expression, a plot of myths, values and traditions. Approximate duration is 3.5 hours including transfers.

Day 20

Buenos Aires El Calafate

Transfer to the airport for your departure flight from Buenos Aires to El Calafate, about 1,700 miles (2,700 km) south of Buenos Aires on the shores of Lake Argentino (Lago Argentino). When you arrive, you’ll be picked up by your professional guide and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the evening is yours to have dinner (own expense) and do what you wish.

Day 21

Los Glaciares National Park

Today, enjoy an excursion to the Perito Moreno glacier in Los Glaciares National Park. After breakfast, make the 50-mile (80-km) drive from El Calafate to the glacier, which sits on the southwestern corner of Lake Argentino. The most famous feature of the World Heritage-listed national park, Perito Moreno is 19 miles (30 km) long, 3 miles (5 km) wide and 197 feet (60 m) tall. With your guide, walk along the 1,300-foot (400-meter) walking path that takes you to a lookout point near the glacier. You’ll spend about two hours here; when you reach the viewpoint (about an hour’s walk), your guide will give you free time to take photos and admire the amazing view of the glacier and lake. Perito Moreno is a growing glacier, creeping forward a little bit each day. If you’re lucky, you may witness the natural phenomenon of ice breaking off of the glacier walls and crashing into the water. You may bring your own packed lunch with you to eat during the tour, have lunch at the restaurant inside the national park, or bring a few snacks on the tour and wait until you get back to El Calafate to eat lunch; the usual return time to El Calafate is 1pm, unless your tour group decides to spend more time at the national park. Please note, the entrance fee to Los Glaciares National Park is not included in the price of the tour; you will pay at the gate when you get there.

El Calafate Buenos Aires

After breakfast, spend a bit more free time in El Calafate before you are driven to the airport to catch your 4-hour flight back to Buenos Aires.  Upon arrival back in Buenos Aires your will be transferred to you hotel for another great evening in this cosmopolitan city.
