Day 1

Adelaide Southern Gateway Cruise

Fly into Adelaide and catch a taxi (own cost) to Victor Harbour to board Pacific Explorer for your Southern Getaway cruise to Port Lincoln and Kangaroo Island. The Port Adelaide Passenger Terminal is 22 km from Adelaide city centre. Access is via a vehicle drop-off zone, or a 200 m walk to Outer Harbour railway station. Park cars nearby, but note there is no long-term parking. 

The cruise ship departs at 4 pm.

Day 2

Port Lincoln 

The cruise docks in Port Lincoln at 8 AM and departs at 6 PM. 

Port Lincoln is a city of 16,000 situated on Boston Bay which opens into Spencer Gulf, at the southern extremity of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. It lies 270 km due west of the State capital Adelaide. The waters are fished for southern bluefin tuna and sardines, and are home to Australia’s largest commercial fishing fleet. Aquaculture is a thriving industry, and large quantities raised in tuna ranches supply the Japanese market.

At Sea

Enjoy the ship’s facilities as you cruise towards Kangaroo Island.

Day 4

Kangaroo Island

Arrive into port at Kangaroo Island at 7 AM and depart at 6 PM. 

Kangaroo Island, named by Matthew Flinders in 1802, is Australia's third largest island. Situated 112 km SW of Adelaide, it is a pristine untamed wilderness where the koalas aren't being cuddled, they're relaxing at home in native trees. The seals aren't performing, they're lazing beside you on the beach.

Arrive in Adelaide at 7 AM, disembark and immediately feel the history and culture of this splendid boutique city. Please catch a taxi  to your hotel for the next 2 nights. The rest of the day is yours to experience Adelaide. Perhaps relax at your hotel, explore its facilities and take a stroll around central Adelaide.

You could discover Adelaide’s laneway secrets, it's bars, cafes, galleries and boutique shops. Wander the tree-lined boulevard of North Terrace, home to the city’s most important cultural institutions. Take in the stunning flora at Adelaide Botanic Gardens or visit the bustling beachside neighbourhood of Glenelg with its white sandy beach, heritage hotels and alfresco cafés.

Free day Adelaide

Today is a free day to explore Adelaide at leisure.  Adelaide is South Australia’s cosmopolitan coastal capital. Its ring of parkland on the River Torrens is home to renowned museums such as the Art Gallery of South Australia, displaying expansive collections including noted Indigenous art, and the South Australian Museum, devoted to natural history. The city's Adelaide Festival is an annual international arts gathering with spin-offs including fringe and film events. Please let us know if you'd like to book a day tour in Adelaide.  Adelaide City Sights Tour is $135 per person.

Day 7

Ghan Adelaide to Alice Springs

Enjoy a relaxing slow-paced morning at your hotel, catch a taxi to the Ghan railway station to begin your remarkable journey to Alice Springs. The journey from Adelaide to Alice Springs takes you through some of the most dramatic and breathtaking scenery on the planet. As you travel from south Australia up toward its red centre you'll be amazed at the sheer size and beauty of this spectacular country, Adelaide's green hills and country vistas transform into dramatic mountain ranges and rocky outcrops, as you head further north the ochre earth and blue skies contrast in a show of incredible natural beauty.

Alice Springs

As you arrive into the Red Centre of Australia you can still sense the strong pioneering outback spirit of Alice Springs. Catch a taxi from the Ghan railway station to your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around the neighbourhood and central Alice Springs.

Free Day Alice Springs

Your Central Australian adventure starts off today by exploring the modern face of the historic pioneer town of Alice Springs.  Please let us know if you would like to book a day tour. Alice Springs is a remote town in Australia’s Northern Territory, halfway between Darwin and Adelaide, both 1,500km away. It’s a popular gateway for exploring the Red Centre, the country's interior desert region. Its 1872 origin as part of the Overland Telegraph Line (linking Darwin and Adelaide) is preserved in the vintage buildings and equipment at the Alice Springs Telegraph Station Historical Reserve.  Alice Springs Half Day Explorer Tour $115 per person.
